Japan Update 71 - Kushiro Wetland, Hokkaido
I have visited Hokkaido several times, but this was my first time in East Hokkaido. I got off at Kushiro Airport and took a bus to Kushiro, from where I boarded the Norokko train and slowly made my way north through the Kushiro Wetland. Kushiro Wetland is the largest Wetland in Japan and is registered under the Ramsar Convention.
After arriving at Tōro Station, we rode in to a canoe and back to south along the Kushiro River to Hosooka Station. On the way, we saw many deers and herons. Also saw white-tailed eagles and red-crowned cranes, which are designated as natural treasures.
I took aerial photos by drone at the canoe station in Hosooka. A deer with a big horn was looking at the drone curiously.
Kushiro Wetland was incredibly large.
